But then<br \/>\nshe realised the power she had and took<br \/>\nadvantage of getting me into trouble<br \/>\nwith it. When you\u2019re not<br \/>\na trouble-maker, getting punished for<br \/>\nother people\u2019s plots tastes like<br \/>\nbile. The selfish, scheming brat.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">So I didn\u2019t like her for a few years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I cringe at my use of the word<br \/>\n\u2018hate\u2019, it happened<br \/>\nseveral times.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I couldn\u2019t hit her in revenge<br \/>\neither. So I refined my verbal<br \/>\narsenal, and I used it<br \/>\nmercilessly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One day, I barrelled<br \/>\nseveral fist-sized holes into<br \/>\nthat little body and left the<br \/>\nroom. But then I came back for<br \/>\nsomething and I caught her<br \/>\ncrying silently.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">That was the day I<br \/>\nrealised that she was a human<br \/>\nbeing<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">with feelings<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">and capable<br \/>\nof hurt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And that I was capable<br \/>\nof hurting her. Those tear-filled<br \/>\nhazel eyes still haunt me<br \/>\nto this day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I didn\u2019t understand her and<br \/>\nher reactions for many<br \/>\nyears after that. But I wouldn\u2019t<br \/>\nbe surprised if much of it was<br \/>\nbattle scars from when her<br \/>\nsister didn\u2019t like her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I hope those wounds are<br \/>\nhealed now. I hope the<br \/>\nscars have faded into such<br \/>\nthin lines that she has<br \/>\nto search to find them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And if she finds them, I<br \/>\nhope it is with a<br \/>\nsmile at the ridiculous<br \/>\nkids we were.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;for a few years.
